Abstract
Tales are a valuable part of the cultural heritage of every nation. These oral legends and tales have become part of written literature throughout history. The theme of the Tales is the confrontation between good and evil. The heroes of the Tales are in a battle with evil characters. In these Tales, archetypes are better manifested, like dreams. The Tale of "Nardan Khatun" is one of the Azerbaijani Tales whose archetypes can be examined based on Jung's theories and Campbell's " hero's journey". In this Tale, which, like other folk tales, narrates the battle between good and evil, the heroine of the mythical journey is a girl who sets out in search of her brothers and at the end of the journey returns home with the final blessing that manifests itself in the form of the brothers. This article analyzes the Tale in a descriptive and analytical manner based on Jung's archetypes and Campbell's “hero’s journey “to show the connection between myth and life in the world of Tales.
