Abstract
This research employs a descriptive-exploratory method to conduct a comparative analysis of the flaws present in the Ashura poetry of contemporary Arab poets from Khuzestan and classical texts such as "Maqtal Shūshtarī." The primary objective of this study is to identify and analyze common content-based and doctrinal deviations in Ashura literature, which, despite its technical richness and love for the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), suffer from serious shortcomings. The findings of the research indicate the presence of the following flaws in this poetic corpus: exaggeration (ghuluww), speaking on behalf of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), the use of inappropriate expressions aimed at invoking pity for the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), a deterministic view of the Ashura event, overemphasis on the phenomenon of thirst in the Karbala event, myth-making instead of exemplar-making, emotional reading, superstition, and attribution of inappropriate behaviors to Imam Hussain (AS) and his family. The results of the comparative study reveal that these flaws have intensified in contemporary poetry, yet their roots lie in classical texts. "Maqtal al-Shūshtarī," despite its positive mystical aspects and use of reliable historical and narrative sources, also contains some of these flaws. These deviations, by infiltrating the Ashura poetry of Khuzestan's Arabs, have weakened the historical, political, and educational dimensions of Ashura, transforming mourning ceremonies into purely emotional acts that distance themselves from the lessons of Imam Hussain's (AS) uprising.
