Abstract
The issue of health and maintaining it is one of the needs of human societies. Health is directly related to the issue of culture. The Turkmen community has a high cancer risk compared to the international standard. The study of the belief system in the studied society explains the beliefs according to which mental images and behaviors are effective in increasing the risk of disease.

Folklore plays a prominent role in the cultural structure of societies and in the formation of mental images and behaviors. Popular culture in the studied society has a great influence in creating deterministic mental images. The main purpose of this article is to know the beliefs in Turkmen folklore in the emergence of deterministic mental images and its role in the health system.

In this article, the paradigm of interpretive anthropology in Clifford Geertz's approach was considered as a theoretical framework, and data was collected using ethnographic methods, focusing on semi-structured interview techniques and document studies.

The findings of this research indicate the role of folklore as one of the main factors of the mental image of fatalism, which plays a role in the two main transitions of the life of Turkmens and ultimately reduces screening, prevention and treatment in facing diseases.
