Abstract
Work songs are considered a branch of folk poetry that has been passed down from generation to generation from the past to the present. These songs are written based on an idea, and there is a relationship between this idea and the concrete form of their language. In the present study, the linguistic thought present in six songs of the Kurmanj people of North Khorasan has been examined from the perspective of Halliday's theory of ideological meta-roles in order to reveal the events present in the language of such songs to the readers by relying on the functional verbs used in their text. For this purpose, first Halliday's theory of systematic role-playing was introduced, and then six songs of Kurmanji's work were analyzed from the perspective of the aforementioned theory. The findings of this study showed that the verbs in the aforementioned songs are among the six processes considered by Halliday. And overall, by considering the type of verbs in the categorization of the songs of the work under study, the conclusion was reached that all six processes are relatively present in the lyrics of the aforementioned songs, but among these processes, the material process was primarily used more in these songs; Because this process has made the phenomena and events in the lyrics tangible and tangible for the general audience and has created a bridge of communication with them. In the next stage, the relational process has been more useful because it has attempted to describe events and phenomena.
